We could not have asked for a better result. The kids were engaged, mobile, listened well, and, in the end, and learned. Amazing what can happen when we all force ourselves to think outside of the box, looking for ways to teach our students in an authentic, relevant, and engaging manner. I recently worked with Steve Cohn and Kim Leegan in creating an audio walking tour based on the work they have been doing in their class on Othello. Our goal was to create something unique where their students had an opportunity to learn while in “motion” and outside the four walls of their classroom. I produced the podcast using Garage Band and published using Podomatic. Students were asked to bring in headsets and were handed their own iPad and a clipboard. Steve and Kim set up three dynamic learning stations throughout WHS where students would gather, listen, watch, discuss, create, etc. We could not have asked for a better result. The kids were engaged, mobile, listened well, and, in the end, and learned.
